Epoch 1: Geth, our preferred client
If you are here because you are using Ethereum wallet, and it's stuck at syncing, don't worry. We don't want you to leave GUI software.
We will use GETH, and you'll see that Ethereum Wallet will connect to GETH, if it's running.
If you have already installed Ethereum Wallet and watch more carefully in your system, you'll notice that a version of GETH is already installed.
In Linux, for example, this is simple: open your command prompt and type
If the command answers, you have already installed it. If you receive "command not found", well, it's time to install it. In Ubuntu, for example:
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum-dev
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ethereum
In Windows, if you have installed Ethereum Wallet, you can find a directory "binaries" inside the Wallet directory, containing Geth, but it's not so comfortable to use it, so we suggest to download the last version of GETH.EXEDownload Geth from the official Ethereum site
After downloading it, install/extract the software, then go to the command prompt, navigate to GETH directory using CD command (for example I've installed it on "C:\Program Files\Geth" so the command will be CD "C:\Program Files\Geth") and try the following:
If everything is ok, you should receive some infos about system and version as output
